Code of Conduct

Last updated: June 22, 2025

The Hockey Association Code of Conduct is the organization's statement of expected behavioral standards that all players are required to read, understand, and follow. The Code of Conduct reflects the association's goals, clarifying player responsibilities for actions on and off the ice, while traveling, and through social media. It ensures a fair process for holding members accountable for standards violations.

The Code of Conduct was adopted by the association's leadership and applies to all members, who agree to abide by it when joining and participating in association activities.

Mission Statement

Our hockey association provides a safe and inclusive environment that celebrates community, fosters connection, and champions respect both on and off the ice.

Language

Threatening conduct, verbal threats, and slurs against race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any personal characteristics are not tolerated under any circumstances.

Sportsmanship

Sportsmanship is defined as fairness and respect for one's opponent, and graciousness in winning or losing.

Players must conduct themselves with the highest level of sportsmanship. Any player who deliberately tries to harm or intimidate another player through threatening, aggressive, or demeaning actions and/or language will face consequences.

Team captains and alternate captains are held to the highest conduct standards as team representatives.

Enforcement Process

Members can report Code of Conduct violations to the association leadership through the system or via email communication.

Leadership will investigate complaints, potentially designating another officer or member to do so. They may also initiate investigations independently.

The investigation typically involves fact-finding and providing notice and response opportunities to the reported individual.

Consequences

Leadership determines sanctions for Code of Conduct violations at its sole discretion. Potential consequences include:

  • Warnings
  • Game suspensions
  • Forfeiture of prepaid fees or passes
  • Removal from teams
  • Suspension of association membership
  • Expulsion from the association

Leadership considers the member's overall conduct and past violations when determining sanctions. Decisions are not appealable and typically require leadership consensus.

Reporting Violations

If you witness or experience conduct that violates this code, please report it promptly to association administrators. All reports will be handled with appropriate confidentiality and investigated thoroughly.

By participating in association activities, all members acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
